Residents of Falmouth enjoy a sparse suburban feel in their cozy homes. The neighborhood is a car-centric community as many locals drive to work, school, and other outings. Being adjacent to Portland, Maine's largest city, the best of the state's dining, entertainment, and shopping destinations are all nearby. Local shopping places are mainly along Route 1, with a few upscale stores where locals get their supplies. 
 
Many dining options are also available within Falmouth. Foreside Tavern & Side Bar is on Route 1, and Dockside Grill is a local favorite for a fabulous scenic view of the bay. 
 
The Town Landing Market is another popular spot for a quick bite, while Orchid Thai Restaurant serves cuisine made with fresh local seafood and ingredients. Milly's Skillet is the local's favorite pizza place, and Bernie's Foreside is ideal for breakfast or lunch. For tasty house-baked goods, Rosemont Market & Bakery is the place to go.

You can enjoy the natural side of Falmouth while living close to all that Portland offers. The Falmouth Community Park is ideal for kid-friendly and dog-friendly activities. You can also stroll along the Mackworth Island trails or visit the Maine Audubon Society's headquarters
The Gilsland Farm Center is another excellent spot for nature enthusiasts. The center has trails along the Presumpscot River estuary through Falmouth's hills, forest, and salt marsh. In Falmouth, you’ll also find three private golf clubs—Portland Country Club, Falmouth Country Club, and Woodlands Country Club.
